soyIt is no surprise that from the title of this article I am in no way in favor of soy

The first time I learned about the dangers of soy I was around 16. Being this young I was very impressionable and took what I learned very serious.

So bye bye went the soy. Since then I’ve tried to steer clear of soy as much as possible, and believe it or not but it’s pretty hard to avoid soy 100% in this day and age.

Big companies put soy in everything

And this is why I believe so many men suffer from, excuse my language…pussification.

Yes that’s a word according to Urban Dictionary

You see soy has been linked to many harmful side effects when consumed, especially the way modern processing methods process soy.

And the reason you have no idea about these harmful side effects is because “publicized studies attempting to show the health benefits of soy are largely funded and promoted to the media and the health-food industry by the multibillion dollar, multinational soy industry in an effort to market its soy products” (Gedgaudas 49).

Do you really think these companies care about your health? All they’re after is what’s in your pocket

Like I’ve stated in previous posts, become informed about the foods you’re eating. Doing so can save your life and the lives of generations to come.

Below is a list of the harmful effects soy causes in your body that I got from the Weston A. Price Foundation;

  • The high levels of phytic acid in soy reduce the assimilation of calcium, magnesium, copper, iron, and zinc. Phytic acid in soy is not neutralized by ordinary preparation methods such as soaking, sprouting, and long, slow cooking. High phytate diets have caused growth problems in children. (Also soy contains the highest levels of phytic acid of any grain or legume.)
  • Trypsin inhibitors in soy interfere with protein digestion and can cause pancreatic disorders. In test animals, soy containing trypsin inhibitors caused stunted growth.
  • Soy phytoestrogens disrupt endocrine function and have the potential to cause infertility and to promote breast cancer in adult women
  • Soy phytoestrogens are potent antithyroid agents (goitrogens) that cause hypothyroidism and may cause thyroid cancer. In infants consumption of soy formula has been linked to autoimmune thyroid disease.
  • Vitamin B12 analogs in soy are not absorbed and actually increase the body’s requirements for vitamin B12.
  • Soy foods increase the body’s requirements for vitamin D
  • Fragile proteins are denatured during the high temperature processing used to make soy protein isolate
  • The processing of soy protein results in the formation of toxic lysinoalanine and highly carcinogenic nitrosamines
  • Free Glutamic acid (monosodium glutamate, or MSG), A potent neurotoxin, is formed during soy food processing and additional amounts are added to many soy foods.
  • Soy foods contain high levels of aluminum, which is toxic to the nervous system and kidneys.[/togglebox]

Yea, I know what you’re thinking…WTF

Not only that, but soy has never been given the GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) status, which is a list of foods that the FDA recognize as safe for human consumption;

Soy has also been shown to be an estrogenic food, which means that it increases estrogen in the human body.

This in itself can lead to a lot of negative side effects, hence why I stated that men and today’s society are becoming…well you know, just refer to the definition at the top of this article.

It also amazes me that companies are actually putting out soy based infant formula. Like eating soy wasn’t bad enough. They want the next generations to all be soft.

According to Nore T. Gedgaudas babies on soy infant formula have estradiol levels 13,000 to 20,000 times higher than babies on milk based infant formula.

A quote from the book Primal Body, Primal Mind stated that C.H. Irvine wrote, “Infants exclusively fed soy infant formula receive the estrogenic equivalent of at least 5 birth control pills a day.”

This is going to interrupt the male characteristics males go through as they age.

This problem isn’t just directed towards boys, girls are even starting to enter puberty a lot earlier than normal and this is partly due to the high amounts of soy that’s in everything we eat.

So if you’re a guy trying to build muscle, burn body fat, or just be over all healthy AVOID soy, it decreases testosterone level enough to where “Buddhist monks ate tofu to reduce their libido” (Gedgaudas 52).

That’s a pretty shocking statement. Libido is directly related to how much testosterone a guy has. If your libido is low so are your test levels.

So I know what you just read is a lot to take in all at once but if that didn’t convince you to stay away from soy this might, soy is a HUGE GMO crop

And if I haven’t said it enough, GMO foods are beyond bad for our health. They’re bad for our environment and wellbeing.
