Let me first start off with that this rant isn’t directed towards the people who have made a conscious effort to go gluten free. It’s a big step and for a lot of people is a hard step none the less.

Cutting grains out of your diet is a difficult task and because there’s grains in pretty much every delicious food known to man

It’s a big step towards cleaner eating. Which comes with its own benefits; some being weight loss, a better digestive tract, more energy, better sleep, and the list could go on.

So why do I think the “Gluten Free” movement is a joke?

For people that have no clue (which I think is a big chunk) gluten is a protein found in wheat.

Now I’m not showing you this video to make fun of these people, that ain’t me. I don’t like making fun of others.

But there is a reason I showed you this video. What I realized  from watching this and my observations in everyday life; people tend to follow blindly.

And big food companies have realized this. They’ve seen the gluten free movement grow, they’ve seen that a lot more people are becoming health conscious (which is awesome), and they’ve also figured out ways to make money from this.

Being gluten free is healthy. It keeps you away from breads, pastas, oats, etc.; foods that people eat way too much of.

The unfortunate part about all this is that companies are starting to label obviously gluten free foods as “gluten free”

For example, a couple of weeks ago I was walking through the chip aisle looking for some chips to eat on my cheat day. I came across a bag of Lay’s wavy chips with a big “Gluten Free” label on it.

This got me thinking of how people with no knowledge of what gluten free actually is might fall for this and think that since the chips are gluten free they must be ok to eat.

This isn’t the only instance. I’ve seen gluten free pizza, cookies, cakes; they’ve pretty much made a perfectly healthy way of eating a lot harder and confusing for people that follow blindly.

The reason going gluten free is so beneficial for your health is because you’re cutting out all grains. If you’ve been reading my stuff you would understand why cutting out grain is a good thing.

So here are some words of advice

Stop following blindly, take the initiative and do your research, see if what you want to follow is for YOU and then try it.

In my opinion going 100% gluten free is for people with Celiac disease. If you don’t suffer from this disease you can have some grains (I prefer to eat them on my cheat days).

As long as you keep your diet clean and healthy with whole foods like veggies, eggs, bacon, meat, chicken, potatoes, fruits etc. having a little bit of gluten isn’t going to kill you.

Talk to you later,
